Why Photoshop doesn't deserve its bad reputation
I feel like in the world outside of professional photographers and photography enthusiasts Photoshop has an undeserved bad reputation. Everyone gets fed up with all the unrealistic images we see in advertisements of beautiful faces and bodies. It's true that all of them (I'm willing to bet that it is indeed all of them) have been heavily altered to eliminate "flaws". In spite of some people using Photoshop to go overboard on retouching, it is also used to enhance photos in delightful and practical ways.
One way in which I use Photoshop a lot is to polish up the backdrops in my dance portraits. The backdrops I use are 9 foot wide rolls of paper. 9 feet might sound like a lot but it's often not wide enough for a dancer's entire body to fit on it. It's also almost never wide enough to fill the whole frame of the photo.
I was editing a photo recently and thought it would be fun to make a little time lapse video to show everyone how Photoshop can be used for good! In the video I condensed about 15 minutes of editing down into 2. So, if you're at all curious about how this photo...
...turned into this photo...
...then you can watch my time lapse video here!
