Every dancer comes to a point when it’s time to try something new - aspirations to join your school’s company, goals to get into a summer intensive at a school you’ve always admired, or the drive to audition for a professional company or touring show.

I am here to help you get the photos you need for your next dance audition. We will work together to create a headshot that represents who you are at this time in your life. We’ll create the full body posing and movement photos that show your best lines, technique and artistry.

Location & Wardrobe Planning

For audition photos, we will meet in my photo studio where we will use precise lighting and a neutral colored wall and flooring to highlight just you and your craft.  For most audition photos I recommend that you wear a solid color leotard, similar to what you will wear in the actual audition. We want to show off your lines cleanly so skirts and tutus are usually not recommended. All of your audition photos will be taken wearing the same outfit. For hair and makeup, I also recommend that you use a style that will look like you on the audition day. Are you sensing a theme here? We want you to look like you!

Audition Session

Duration: 30-60 minutes

During the session, it will be my job to provide an atmosphere that allows your mastery of movement to be on display. Depending on the number of shots you need, we’ll plan to spend between 30-60 minutes taking photos. We’ll work on each photo, taking our time to find your best lines and the best lighting and camera angles to show them off. During your dance audition my camera will be tethered to a monitor to see each shot we take so we can decide what is working and what we can do to make your audition photos even better. We can compare similar shots to choose the very best one that truly shows what you can do. Together, we will review the portraits at the end of your session for you to choose your favorite images.

Pricing & Packages

For audition sessions, all photos are delivered as high resolution digital files.  Pricing for dance audition photo sessions starts at $295 for 3 shots. You have the option to add on 1-3 additional shots for $75 each. Skin and hair retouching will be done on the headshot. Due to the integrity needed in dance audition photos, that they not be digitally manipulated, no alteration of pixels will be done to any part of a dancer’s body or wardrobe on the full body shots. All shots will be taken in a room at my studio against a neutral colored wall with vinyl wood flooring. If you are looking for a custom session with wardrobe changes, varying colored backdrops, dramatic lighting and more extensive retouching, a custom, creative session would be a better option.
